Quaint, quirky, cozy and charming – if Hobbits were commissioned to build a pub, this would be it.
The old City of London’s backstreets are like something out of a Harry Potter novel. They seem to exist in a parallel universe, hiding in plain sight, alongside the intense energy of London’s main streets.
They offer quiet sanctuary with small churches, chapels, offices, shops, boutiques, restaurants and pubs that seem content to be out of the way.
Just as I arrived on foot, some London drizzle summoned me in to the pub. I complied and stayed for a while.
